NDOKWA YOUTHS FULLY SUPPORT THE CREATION OF ANIOMA STATE — IRRESPECTIVE OF THE GEO-POLITICAL ZONE : DISSOCIATE SELF FROM PURPORTED PRESS RELEASE
The Ndokwa Progressive Youths Assembly, which is the foremost, authentic and socio-political real youths (not grand father's youths oo) wishes to respond to the recent press release by Delta North legislators and Local Government Chairmen rejecting the proposal for Anioma State to be situated in the South-East geopolitical zone.
While we acknowledge their intervention, we must state clearly that their position does not represent the full spectrum of Anioma opinion nor the strategic realities before us.
WHAT MATTERS MOST IS THE CREATION OF ANIOMA STATE — NOT ITS GEOPOLITICAL LOCATION
For decades, the struggle of our forebarers has been the realization of a state for Anioma people. The zone in which this state eventually falls does not—and cannot—erase our identity, our culture, our language, or our heritage.
Kwara State, predominantly Yoruba, has always been located in the North-Central zone. Yet its people remain proudly Yoruba. Geography does not define culture.
A RARE AND HISTORIC OPPORTUNITY EXISTS — WE MUST NOT WASTE IT
At this moment, the only clear geopolitical space available for creating a new state exists in the South-East, which has long operated with only five states. National consensus increasingly points to Anioma as the most viable option to correct this imbalance. Rejecting this opportunity because of sentiment or political calculations would be a tragic mistake. Missing this opening may delay Anioma State for more decades.
Do the Legislators and Chairmen Truly Speak for the Anioma People ?
Definitely NO, if not, where was their voices when Ndokwa/Ukwuani Nation doesn't have a tertiary institution or even a campus of tertiary institution from the state that it took an Urhobo son to give us a Federal tertiary institution? The speed and tone of their rejection raise legitimate concerns about whose interests are being defended.
For years, Anioma’s placement in the South-South has not translated into proportional development, equity, or meaningful political influence.
Our experience in Delta State has shown clearly that administrative positioning in the South-South has not guaranteed fairness or progress. Insisting that Anioma must remain in the South-South—despite the lack of tangible benefit—is not in alignment with the broader aspirations of our people.
ANIOMA IDENTITY REMAINS INTACT — ANYWHERE
Anioma remains Anioma— whether placed in the South-South or South-East.
Our identity is deeper than any geopolitical label. What should guide our decisions now is strategy, opportunity, and long-term interest—not sentiment.
Our Priority Must Be the Real Interests of Anioma People ; A state of our own—wherever it is situated—give us Anioma people greater control over our destiny, enhanced political representation, and accelerated development.
Rejecting the South-East option outright is shortsighted and potentially harmful to our collective future. Our goal is the creation of Anioma State, not the preservation of boundaries that have never served us well.
ANIOMA FIRST. ANIOMA ALWAYS.
Anioma deserves a state. Anioma has waited long enough. We will not allow the narrow stance of a few officials to close the door on a historic national opportunity. The majority of ordinary Anioma people understand this truth, and I am confident that I speak their minds.
ANIOMA FIRST. ANIOMA ALWAYS.
