DR. FRED O. LATIMORE AND HIS UNJUSTIFIED OKPAI IPP PROJECTS DEFENCE ON HIS RECENT INTERVIEW WITH TVC NEWS

Having listened to the interview granted to the Director, Delta State Bureau of orientation on TVC, I was dumbfounded and shocked by Dr. Fred defensive approach to issues of public importance. The picture attached to this article justifies the senator's synergy with TCN management who had come to conclusion with their JV partner Nigeria Agip Oil Company now OANDO RESOURCES. Everything is intact all they need is money to commence the project period.

PEOPLES DEMOCRATIC PARTY NEGLIGENCE ON IPP PROJECTS.

Dr. Fred O. Latimore's defense on the the IPP projects is practically unjustifiable. Emphatically, I just want to believe Dr. Fred O. Latimore is not one of those repatriated Nigerians from the USA who was infused into this present administration of the PDP because he can speak English. Dr. Fred hammering on consulting with the JV partners shows is never abreast with the efforts the most distinguished Senator had put in consulting the relevant agents including Nigeria Agip Oil Company (NAOC) and the Transmission company of Nigeria (TCN). As shown on the above attached pictures.

CONSULTATIONS DONE BY SENATOR PRINCE NED MUNIR NWOKO WITH THE HONOURABLE MINISTER OF POWER, TCN AND NAOC NOW OANDO RESOURCES.

It should be recalled that before the first quarter of 2024 the most distinguished senator met with the Honourable Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu to specifically discussed the possibility of getting the IPP phase II projects commenced and during the cause of their discussion it was made clear by the Honourable Minister that the project inability to commence is as a result of the lack of adequate funds.

The Senator being a democratic being took it upon itself to phantom quicker solutions by first of all visiting the governor of Delta State to seek his collaboration on the IPP projects for the sake of the people who voted them into their political offices but the governor turned him down. The Senator still took it upon himself to summon the Executive Director of TCN management Engr Gbenga Ajiboye and other staff involved in the IPP projects to the national assembly on the 5th December, 2024 to get a proper demographic view about the inability for the project to commence and the management alley their predicaments which boils down to lack of funds having explained the circumstances surrounding the project while seeking close working relationship with the senator to get the project commenced. The Senator had met with the management of NAOC and the issue still lie on lack of funds.

Dr. Fred O. Latimore's assertions are far from the reality on ground. You don't defend the inability for a political party to perform at the detriment of the people. 25 years of darkness under the supervision of the PDP should be a shame of shamble to the entire leadership of the party.

The IPP phase one project was commissioned in 2005. Dr. Fred should ask the PDP he's defending at the detriment of his integrity, why haven't they started this negotiation with NAOC and TCN at least for the interest of the people whom they claim to supervise before the arrival of the most distinguished Senator Prince Ned Munir Nwoko the major reason why the IPP projects had been abandoned for 25 years or is Dr. Fred saying the government of PDP don't recognise the darkness felt by the people of Delta North Senatorial District for the past 25 years? Dr. Fred O. Latimore should tell the people for over 20 years the efforts they've put to savage the situation? Am beginning to think that PDP government deliberately ignored the Ndokwa nation to remain in darkness for some of them to be using Ndokwa nation as their headquarters to perform their witches and wizards PDP caucus meetings.

It is absolutely pitiable, dismal, abysmal and regrettable lugubrious that for almost 25 years of the Okpai IPP projects commission, the government of Delta State never showed any interest about the people but yet when it comes to election era these deprived communities still vote for the PDP. I think that evil veil has been removed by Senator Prince Ned Munir Nwoko.

Dr. Fred O. Latimore, I put it to you that you don't know anything concerning the IPP projects but you are just acting on hearsay and perhaps you aren't Delta North indigene hence you won't feel their pains. As the director, Delta State Bureau of communication you need more patriotic orientation than this your continuous political unpatriotic defense.

BRIEF FACT ABOUT THE IPP PROJECTS AS AGAINST LATIMORE'S INSINUATION.

The Okpai Independent Power Plant project (IPP) was commissioned in 2005. The project began in 2002 and was inaugurated by then President Olusegun Obasanjo. Emphatically, the first phase of the IPP project in Okpai, started in 2002 with a capacity to generate 480 megawatts of electricity. For Dr. Fred Latimore to say the most distinguished Senator should romance the governor or bow to him before he will adhere to such an abandoned projects which has lasted for almost 20 years while the very governor had been in government for years without recourse to such an economic and people's elevating projects, I think Dr. Fred Latimore is not democratically oriented to feel the pains of the people to such a project that needs urgent attention. The interview practically shows the Peoples Democratic Party as a matter of fact has totally failed to exercise the very democratic will of the people.

THE AGIP JV AND SAIPEM ON IPP II PHASE PROJECTS

Talking about the JV between Saipem and Naoc on the above subject matter, it is worthy of note for Dr. Fred Latimore to understand that there are pending issues stampeding the progress of that project which the distinguished Senator entered into and try to overlook such setbacks litigation against the progress of the IPP projects for the betterment of the people and Nigeria at large. The Senator made frantic consultations with the governor on several occasions to phantom solutions to the abandoned projects but was turned down by various excuses. Even when the senator had wanted to bring financiers to complete the projects but the governor still turned him down at the detriment of the people.

When Dr. Fred Latimore made mentioned of JV status quo, it buttress the fact that he's not abreast on the decades abandonment of the IPP projects. The JV parties had been approached by the distinguished Senator and they had to open up to the Senator about their challenges which has to do with funding. As the director of Bureau of orientation, I think he needs to come close for the office of the distinguished Senator Prince Ned Munir Nwoko to democratically orient him accordingly on the reality of the IPP projects without being party defensive but people progressive. Being defensive against the will of the people is a deliberate act of stampeding the progress of the people.

THE SENATOR'S DEFECTION

Political parties are like churches where people gather like one family, but when the head of the church is not speaking unity amongst members or form disunity amongst members such assembly must never stand but scatter. Dr. Fred O. Latimore's comment during the course of the interview that Senator Ned didn't consult very well before taking his decisions to switch to the All Progressives Congress (APC) is absolutely laughable. When some politicians do hammer on consultations most especially in Delta State PDP it sounds to me as a destabilising method of stampeding progressive actions having done the needful consultations. The defection to the All Progressive Congress by Senator Prince Ned Munir Nwoko is for the interest of the people and never for self gratification.

DIRESPECTING THE LEADERSHIP OF THE PARTY

Dr. Fred Latimore also made mentioned of the distinguished Senator disrespecting the leadership of the party headed by the governor of Delta State which is absolutely bias and a non grata statement against the very reality on ground. The distinguished Senator Prince Ned Nwoko had face humiliation and unfriendly attitudes from both the head and tails like the Aniocha North local government chairman and other members of the Peoples Democratic Party. Emphatically, you don't expect a man of his calibre to continue working with those who are scared of workable ideas all in the name of party supremacy.

Dr. Fred Latimore should understand that leadership perception not inline with the very ideology of "Non Sibi Sed aliis" (Not for oneself, but for others) is like a massive cathedral without members and a non grata (unwelcomed) ideology against the progress of the people.
