EVERYTHING RISES AND FALLS ON LEADERSHIP: A CALL TO DELTA APC LEADERS AND STAKEHOLDERS
Leadership is the foundation of progress, stability, and success in any organization, society, or political party. The famous quote, "Everything rises and falls on leadership," by John C. Maxwell, underscores the undeniable truth that the effectiveness of a leader determines the destiny of those they lead. Whether in governance, business, or politics, leadership is the pivot upon which success or failure swings.
As Delta State's All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders and stakeholders reflect on the party’s journey, it is crucial to acknowledge that the strength, unity, and influence of APC in Delta rest heavily on the decisions, vision, and commitment of its leadership. The ability of the party to win elections, deliver good governance, and impact the lives of the people is not solely dependent on its structures or popularity but on the quality of leadership driving the vision.
THE ROLE OF LEADERSHIP IN DELTA APC’S SUCCESS
Leadership in politics is not just about occupying positions; it is about influence, direction, and service. Delta APC has experienced both highs and lows, and in every phase, leadership has been the determining factor. Strong, inclusive, and strategic leadership fosters unity, inspires members, and strengthens public trust in the party. On the other hand, weak or divisive leadership leads to internal crises, disorganization, and electoral defeats.
For APC to emerge stronger in Delta State, leaders and stakeholders must embrace leadership that is:
1. Visionary and Strategic – A leader must see beyond the present and work towards a future that ensures the party’s growth and relevance. Delta APC needs leaders who are not only concerned about personal ambitions but are committed to a collective vision that will position the party for electoral victories and good governance.
2. Inclusive and Unifying – One of the biggest challenges facing political parties is division. When leaders place personal interests above collective progress, factions emerge, and party strength is weakened. Delta APC must embrace unity, ensuring that all stakeholders—regardless of status, background, or influence—are carried along in decision-making processes.
3. Accountable and Transparent – Leadership thrives on trust, and trust is built through accountability. Delta APC must cultivate leadership that prioritizes transparency, ensuring that members and supporters have confidence in the party’s internal structures and processes.
4. Service-Oriented and People-Focused – Politics is ultimately about the people. Leaders must not see their positions as an opportunity for personal gain but as a call to serve. Delta APC’s leadership must be committed to improving the welfare of its members and, by extension, the people of Delta State.
A CALL FOR LEADERSHIP RENEWAL IN DELTA APC
As the party prepares for future elections and political engagements, it is time for a leadership renewal—a shift from politics as usual to a system that values competence, dedication, and service. The internal struggles and setbacks that the party has faced in Delta should serve as lessons that without strong and selfless leadership, APC cannot attain the dominance and influence it desires in the state.
This is a clarion call to all APC leaders and stakeholders in Delta State: let us build a leadership culture that ensures our party rises rather than falls. Let us set aside personal differences, work for the common goal, and uphold the values of unity, accountability, and service. The future of Delta APC is in our hands, and it is only through strategic leadership that we can move from opposition to dominance, from internal conflicts to collective progress, and from electoral losses to resounding victories.
If leadership is right, everything else will follow. Let us lead right.
