Ndokwa Nation and the Quest for Anioma State: A Call for Unity and Progress

One of the greatest sociopolitical setbacks hindering Ndokwa’s progress is self-inflicted—rooted in ignorance, divisiveness, and a stubborn refusal to unite with others who share the same cultural heritage. While more enlightened groups like the Edo and Yoruba people, despite dialectal differences, stand together under a common sociocultural and political identity, Ndokwa-Ukwuani in 2025 remains trapped in an archaic mindset of ethnic separation. The endless, baseless chants of *"Ukwuani are not Igbo"* and *"Ndokwa-Ukwuani will not join Anioma"* only reinforce our stagnation

It is both shocking and disappointing that in this day and age, some supposedly educated Ndokwa-Ukwuani individuals still oppose the creation of Anioma State, simply because they fear it might be zoned to the Southeast. Do they truly believe our current position in the South-South has brought us any significant socioeconomic or political benefits? The resistance is even more baffling when it stems from personal grievances against Senator Ned Nwoko, the leading advocate for Anioma State. The truth is, as the highest-ranking legislative officer from Anioma, Nwoko is in the best position to champion this cause. Opposing progress simply because of one man is shortsighted and counterproductive.

What will happen if Anioma State eventually becomes a reality, and those who fought against it suddenly start crying marginalization? History shows that those who participate in the struggle reap the greatest rewards. If Ndokwa-Ukwuani fails to join this movement now, we risk being left behind in the political and economic distribution that will follow.

The time for unity is now. Ndokwa must stand with our Anioma brothers and sisters in this pursuit, or we will have no one to blame but ourselves when we are sidelined in the future. Let us move beyond petty divisions and embrace the collective progress that Anioma State promises. Our sociopolitical and economic future depends on it.
