SHOP ALLOCATION ONGOING AT THE ABAJA INTERNATIONAL MARKET

Following the recent meeting between His Royal Majesty Ukwata I of Umukwata Kingdom and the Ukwata Youths, the monarch formally announced his decision to open the Abaja International Market for commercial activities.

In keeping with his commitment to community development, HRM Enyi Friday Odini Abaja declared that Umukwata indigenes will operate in the market free of charge, while non-indigenes will pay a minimal maintenance fee. This move has been widely praised as a show of generosity and foresight.

Today, the Umukwata Upland Communities, comprising Obi-Nomba Phase 2, Obi-Edike, Obinomba, Owah-Abbi, Obi-Onyeonicha, and Obi-Oluku came together under the umbrella of the Market Women Association to carry out a market clean-up and preparation exercise. The event also included the official issuance of open and lock-up shops to prospective traders.

Speaking at the event, the Market Women Leader, Mrs. Philomena Aghenenu, expressed gratitude to HRM Ukwata I for his unwavering support for economic empowerment within the kingdom. She also used the opportunity to call on all interested traders to come forward and secure their shops, as the market has already begun receiving traders from Abraka, Obiaruku, Umutu, Ebedei, and Ndemili.

“We are calling on all who have been waiting for this opportunity to come now and take shops. The market is ready, and we have started welcoming traders from far and wide,” Mrs. Aghenenu stated.

The gathering was filled with songs of praise and thanksgiving for the King’s benevolent leadership and his commitment to the economic growth of the Umukwata Kingdom.
