N59 BILLION NAIRA AGBOR FLYOVER A MISPLACED PRIORITY AND A DEFINITION OF INEQUITY.
28th July 2025
Let me first say it here that this is not targeted at or against Agbor but to expose the intentional attack on the development of Anioma.
Without much ado, I wish to categorically state here that the approved N59 billion naira flyover for Agbor should be revoked because it is not what is needed by Anioma people at the moment.
Delta North People have been in darkness since only God knows, even when the first independent power plant was built in Delta North. According to useful information, it will take about N30 billion naira to step the power down and distribute an uninterrupted power supply to every part of Delta North.
The Senator, representing Delta North, sometimes ago called on the State Government to fund this all-important project, but there were excuses here and there. In fact, it was said that the State Government can't do anything because the IPP is a Federal Government Project.
Large parts of Delta North do not have access to clean water because of their terrains, mechanised farming almost impossible because of lack of adequate water supply, a Dam has been built at Ogwashi-Uku waiting for pipping in order to distribute water to over 70 communities. This project is yet to be executed under the same argument that it is a federal government project. Meanwhile, about N20 billion naira is needed to get this done.
With the above, it is clear that N30 billion for IPP stepdown and N20 billion naira for Ogwashi-Uku amounting to N50 billion is capable of giving us steady power supply and enough water in the entire Anioma
How then on earth will the State Government approve N59 billion naira for just one flyover at Uromi junction Agbor that will not add anything meaningful to Delta Northerners?
Is the Benin-Asaba road where the flyover will be built at Uromi junction, not a federal road?
The road from Agbor to Obiaruku is there, and almost not motorable, and you don't want to do anything about that but to approve N59 billion naira for one flyover at Agbor.
Indeed, this is a misplaced priority, and I advise the governor to revoke such contract and commit the same N59 billion for the stepping down of Okpai Independent Power Plant and completion of Ogwashi-Uku Earth Dam.
All communities in Anioma needed to be connected with good link roads.
A responsible government will listen and attend to the needs of the people and not their wants from some power hijackers
Flyover is good, but for now, the Uromi junction flyover is not as important as the 24-hour power supply and water for Anioma people. The flyover will not add any economic benefits to the Anioma people like the steady power supply will add to the economic development and stability of Anioma.
My major concern is the fact that most of our leaders were comfortably sited and watched when these negligible deeds were done. They couldn't speak out because they were not independent. They couldn't even talk to their emperor to talk to the governor over what their people really needed.
How can a state government that claimed that they don't have N30 billion naira to stepdown power for Anioma people suddenly approve N59 billion naira for one flyover in Agbor?
It means it's a deliberate attempt to keep us in perpetual darkness, thereby crumbling our economic growth and total wellbeing.
One looking at the list of roads approved together under the N230 billion naira approved a few days ago, one can easily tell and see the high level of marginalisation against the Anioma People.
Where is the NNU???? They are too silent, I thought the President of Ndokwa Neku Union said his focus is the IPP. the Urhobo Governor has approved N59 billion for one flyover at Agbor but approved nothing for the IPP. Are you still supporting our stay in South South? Have you seen reasons why we need Anioma State?
By the end of the day, some of una go regret una actions against Anioma State Creation.
