UKWUANI FOUNDATION UNION CANNOT SPEAK FOR THE ENTIRE NDOKWA NATION
Response to UFU publication by Rt Hon Olisa Imegwu, 5th December 2025
Excellent attempt. Good initiative that requires the most lacking thing in the crusade, namely: ORGANIZATION, COORDINATION, LEADERSHIP AND A STRATEGY to make it work as a people. OBSERVATIONS. FIRST,Just a few days ago, we passed our NNU Constitution. It states clearly that the NDOSHIMILI/UKWUANI people shall be known and called NDOKWA PEOPLE as a short form of the name. SECOND, and related, the legally accepted nomenclature relating to the Federal recognized political subdivision of the country, our area is known as NDOKWA/UKWUANI FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY, and not UKWUANI FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY.
THIRD, it will be misleading to refer to the Land area comprising of NDOKWA WEST AND NDOKWA EAST LGAs as an UKWUANI LAND when you have an LGA called UKWUANI. An innocent and unsuspecting observer from Europe, Asia, Middle East, and even in Nigeria, may mistake the people of Ndokwa West LGA and Ndoshimili from Ndokwa East LGA as indigenes of UKWUANI LGA. It is neater that for the meantime, we confine our usage of the term UKWUANI LAND to NDOKWA LAND as expressly stated in the NNU 2025 amended Constitution passed just a few days ago.
FOURTH, apart from the above observation, I find your presentation as excellent and a good foundation to build on with a little amendment in the area of the additional creation of LGAs from the old Aboh division. Rather than 3 as stated in your presentation, given our size and population, as rightly stated, an additional 3 LGAs should be added to make it 6 LGAs. The additional 3 should go to Ndokwa East LGA given its size, lack of continuity and inunhospitable terrain.
FIFTH, it is easier said and done on the social media platforms, print and electronic media, the practicability and achievability of our objectives matter alot. In that sense, I suggest that we have a fall back position, which is, if we are denied our demands, as has always been the case from the Midwestern Region, Aboh Division, Bendel State and now Delta State, we should tinker with the idea of considering joining a union that GUARANTEE us our demands.
Fixation on geopolitical zones is no longer fashionable in the fast world of Information and AI Communication advancement, the world over. What matters, is what places us over and above our imperialist competitors. HRM, the Asagba of Asaba, is doing just that for Asaba people and loyalty to his ancestors. Of course, IKA, is doing the same for their people and area, Ndokwa should not be an exception. This is my personal viewpoint.
