NDOSUMILI/UKWUANI MUST AWAKE: THE TIME FOR UNITY AND DEVELOPMENT IS NOW

It is high time the Ndokwa (comprising Ndosumili and Ukwuani) people awoken from slumber and confront the pressing realities that shape our collective future. For too long, we have allowed internal strife and disunity to rob us of the true dividends of growth and development that we so richly deserve.

‎When we look around Delta State, we see our neighboring ethnic groups—Aniocha, Oshimili, and Ika—moving forward with a sense of purpose and unity. These groups are not engaging in self-destructive conflicts over land or territorial boundaries. They understand that land is transient; something we all ultimately leave behind. Instead of fighting amongst themselves, they are busy positioning their people for leadership, progress, and prosperity.

‎Unfortunately, this has not been the case with the Ndokwa people. We have allowed ourselves to be distracted by endless disputes over land and boundary demarcations. In some cases, these disputes have escalated into violence and bloodshed among brothers—people who should be working together to uplift the land they share. What does it benefit us to reduce our population through self-inflicted violence, when human capital is one of the key drivers of any region’s development?

‎This infighting makes a mockery of the Ndokwa identity. It weakens our collective voice in the political and developmental discourse of Delta State and Nigeria at large. We must come to terms with the fact that while others are competing over infrastructural growth, education, political representation, and economic empowerment, we are still stuck in the trenches of primordial land battles.

‎IT IS TIME FOR A PARADIGM SHIFT.

‎We must redirect our focus from conflict to constructive competition—to development, unity, education, innovation, and economic advancement. We must begin to elect and support leaders who have Ndokwa at heart—those who can represent us intelligently and courageously in the league of other ethnic nationalities. We must stop recycling oppressors, puppets, and mediocrities as our “first eleven” and start promoting visionary leaders who understand the needs of our people and are passionate about meeting them.

‎Development requires strategic thinkers—leaders who think outside the box, who understand policy, who can attract federal and international attention to Ndokwa, and who can advocate for us on important platforms. We need people who will not speak for others while sitting at the table, but who will boldly speak for Ndokwa and as Ndokwa, especially when other ethnic groups are pushing their agendas.

‎Therefore, I call on every son and daughter of Ndokwa—whether at home or in the diaspora—to come together and rise above petty differences. Let us channel our energy, intellect, and resources toward building a united, peaceful, and prosperous Ndokwa nation.

‎Let this be the turning point.

‎Let this be the time we say “enough is enough” to internal conflicts.

‎Let this be the era of development, unity, and a new vision for Ndokwa.

‎Ndokwa Arise! The future will not wait.
