SENATOR NED NWOKO HOLDS FOURTH PHASE OF YOUTH EMPOWERMENT IN AGRICULTURE

The Senator representing Delta North Senatorial District, Prince Ned Nwoko, has continued his drive for youth empowerment with another round of training in fishery farming and livestock production.

The refresher programme, which is the fourth phase of its kind, was organised on Monday, September 8, 2025, in collaboration with the Nigerian Press Council. It held at Benizia Hotel, Asaba, and attracted youths from across the district.

Two lecturers from Dennis Osadebe University, Dr. Akpotu O. Joseph of the Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture and Dr. Abraham Iwegbu of the Department of Animal Production, anchored the technical sessions. They exposed the participants to modern practices in aquaculture and livestock management, stressing the importance of innovation and discipline in agriculture.

Representing Senator Nwoko at the event, his Deputy Chief of Staff, Prince Chiedu Abili, said the initiative was part of the senator’s deliberate effort to encourage youth participation in agriculture. He explained that the programme ties directly to the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu, which emphasises food security as a priority.

Abili told the gathering that Senator Nwoko would sustain the programme in phases until more youths across Delta North are reached. He urged the participants to remain resourceful and committed, adding that agriculture holds vast opportunities that can empower them and also strengthen food security in the state and the country.

The beneficiaries lauded the senator for sustaining the initiative, describing it as timely and impactful. They said the knowledge gained from the training would not only help them venture into self reliant businesses but also contribute to reducing unemployment in the district.

Dignitaries at the event included High Chief Ugo Asibelua and other community leaders who commended the senator for keeping youth empowerment on the front burner of his legislative agenda.
